| Crash: Various Dates Repairs: As needed! |
I haven't been diligent about tracking repairs on this plane to date but the process begins now! So far I have only had problems with setting the wheels down to hard on the pavement and one parking block instance. The MUS (Mini Ultra Stick) is a stable yet aerobatic plane that generally does as its told. Admittedly, all damage has been pilot error! Usually too hot on the approaches. I managed to bust the gear off a few times and finally beefed the mounting area up and replaced the balsa underside of the fuse in front of the gear with aircraft plywood | |
| September 1, 2007 | MOD | Swapped wheels that were getting beat up from the rough pavement at the park that I fly at. I used DU-BRO 250SL 2 1/2" Diameter Super Lite Wheels. Each wheel weighs 9.65 grams. These seem to take the abuse much better and are a beefier wheel |
| September 12, 2007 | REPAIR | Knocked the dadburn gear off again - I saw a posting by Doc Austin on the RC Groups board that said that he replaced the landing gear bolts with nylon bolts - that way they break instead of the wood. Its always better to design intentional break away points than to let the [plane choose them! I'll be doing that as soon as I find some nylon bolts |
| June 6 2009 | WOW! | Still holding up!! haven't had any real repairs to speak of - small scrapes from windy landings - Maybe I've figured this one out!! |
| More will coming I'm sure, so check back! |
